HG products for oily and acne prone skin

Hey all, greetings from me. Hope all of you are doing great. The topic for today is about the product recommendations for oily skin. Due to the hot and humid weather conditions, the skin most of  us becomes oil producing factory. This is most troublesome skin , all the pores get clogged due to oil production and which causes acne. I will share some tips and also products that will help you to keep your oily skin at bay.

Here are some things that you are doing wrong to your skin, Oily skin.

  • Skipping moisturizer: The most common mistakes we do is this, skipping the moisturizer. Invest in good oil free and non comedogenic (which will not clog pores). When we wash our face, the pores on our face get activated and start producing more oil to compensate the oil loss it suffered after we washed the face. And if we will not apply moisturizer, even more oil would be produced. You can skip it when you are wearing sunscreen. Affordable Moisturizer recommendations are as follows You can click on them to buy them.:
  1. aroma magic juniper berry oil free moisturizer : this one has a watery texture and fells super light on the skin, it absorbs so quick that you wont even feel you are wearing a moisturizer.
  2. Lacto Calamine for oily skin : Make it your best friend , this is all in one product which not only moisturizes but also reduces skin imperfections. Makeup lovers can use it as primer too.
  3. Wow aloe Vera gel : this one has 99% aloe gel and is really a boon for oily skinned people. Use it as night cream , after sunburns , on rashes and even hair. It also helps in getting glowing skin and getting rid of acne.
  • Washing face again and again: When we wash our face again and again, the oil removes and to compensate it, again the pores produce more sebum and which cause blocked pores, that result in blackheads/ whiteheads and acne. One should only wash the face 2-3 times a day. preferably after getting up in the morning and next before going to bed. Here are some face wash recommendations you can give a try. You can click on them to buy them.
  1. Clean and Clear foaming face wash : This is an affordable and mild gel based cleanser for your skin and leaves no residue behind. It also prevents acne.
  2. Ponds flawless white deep whitening facial foam : This is a cream based cleanser, immediately brightens up the skin and controls oil production for long. Leaves no residue behind. It never breaks me out, Touch Wood.
  3. Plum green tea face wash : It controls acne as well as oil on your face. Its a bit expensive though.
  4. The Body Shop tea tree facial wash : Its expensive but surely worth it. Also you get a huge quantity for the price you pay, so it will last really long. It keeps acne at bay.
  5. Aroma magic neem and tea tea face wash : Its inexpensive and does the job, removing it is a task though. Plus point is that, its soap free , vegan , free of parabens , sulphates and harmful chemicals.

  • Wearing a lot of makeup: This is the most faced problem, layering a lot of products not only blocks the pores but also speeds up the aging process, blemishes , fine lines and wrinkles. Also the products you applied seems to cake after some time. What you should do is, invest in an all in one product like BB creams or CC creams (they have moisturizer + sunscreen + makeup) all in one. Here are the BB creams you can try.
  1. Lakme CC cream
  2. Ponds white beauty BB+ cream
  3. Maybelline New York BB cream
  4. The Body Shop BB cream : It has tea tree which is best for acne prone skin. Buy it from nykaa, amazon link was expensive, that is why i haven't included it here.
  • Not wearing Sunscreens: The most common reason for this, it makes me even more oily. Well you are absolutely right, but sunscreens are a must, it prevents you from getting tanned as well as from harmful rays of sun, which cause aging and  skin cancer (the most dangerous of all reasons and we take this particular reason so lightly). You can try these sunscreens for your skin type.
  1. Neutrogena dry touch sunblock SPF 50+ : This is my all time favourite and it also makes me sweat after i apply it. So i try to use a compact powder to set it or tissue to remove that shine.
  2. Aroma Magic Aloe Vera Sunscreen Gel- For oily and Acne prone skin : No chemicals, no parabens , vegan , absolutely gel , moisturizing. Specially for oily and acne prone skin. Do i need to say more? The only downside is that it only has SPF 20, though we can reapply after 2 hours. I do not wear any moisturizer underneath it.
Here are the things you should be doing for your oily skin:

  • Make compacts your best friend: We people always have that oily sheen on our face, to mattify it , we should be using compact powder or loose powder to mattify our skin. Even if you are a college going girl you can use it, no need of makeup. What i like to do is, i wear my compact over my sunscreen and the face does not look oily at all. Compact absorbs the oil for longer time, they absorb it and give a matte finish to your face. One more advantage is, a compact which have sunscreen is really helpful for the girl on the go. Don't use compact with SPF at night. Recommendations are:
  1. Lakme Sunscreen Compact : it has SPF 40 and PA+++
  2. Maybelline Compact : it has SPF 28
  3. White tone Face powder : it does not have SPF
  • Use alcohol free Toner: They tighten our pores, cleans them (so that no acne breakout happens) control and reduce the oil production on the skin, its a must use product for oily skin. It also cleanses the remains of face wash , dirt , makeup etc from your face. They also prep the skin for moisturizer application. make sure they are free of alcohol and other harmful ingredient. Toner recommendations as follows:
  1. Lotus Herbals Basil tone Cucumber Basil Clarifying and Balancing Toner
  2. Plum Green Tea alcohol free toner
  3. Kama Ayurveda Pure Rose Water (Purest rose water toner, can be used for other purposes as well, as face mist also)
  4. Dabur Gulabari Premium Rose Water/Skin Toner (affordable rose water)
  • Exfoliate once or twice a week: Scrub your oily skin at least once a week to remove the impurities from your pores, to clean them up. Use a mild scrub with smaller granules. Do not use a cream based scrub,it will clog your pores. Don't scrub if you have active acne going on your skin. Also, Excess exfoliation can cause severe breakouts. Recommendations:
  1. Himalaya purifying neem scrub: All time favorite of mine, as I have oily and acne prone skin.
  2. Happily Unmarried Face Scrub Oily Skin: You can also give this one a try.
  • Face Masks: Do not use cream based masks, stick to typical multani mitti (fulller's earth) mixed with rose water/ aloevera gel/ water mask. Do not use sheet masks even, they specially suit normal to dry skin. Never ever use a peel off mask guys, we have super sensitive skin. My favorite picks for face pack are:

  1. Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask
  2. Jiva Ayurveda Neem Mud Pack
  3. Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Pack
  • Make use of oil blotting paper: The blotting paper removes excess oil from the skin. What it does is, it absorbs the oil from the skin. Its expensive so what you can do is, grab some extra tissues from Starbucks, those can solve your purpose. Recommendations are:
  1. Basicare Natural Lavender Facial Oil Blotting Paper The most affordable i could find, do give it a try.
